The Film Room Two film geeks pay tribute to and take apart hollywood bit by bit. Austin and Albert are The Film Room. New episode every week!

September 14, 2019

DISCLAIMER: This episode was recorded on April 18, 2018, and serves right now as a time capsule. This was before both Infinity War and Endgame came out, among other various things that have changed drastically in the past year and a half.

We talk a dozen random subjects, movies we've seen, the state of Channel Awesome at the time, upcoming things we are excited about (that turned out with mixed results), and some extra Lola shenanigans kept in for good measure (because she's grown since too)! Please enjoy!

Side note: This is the last of the backlog, and after a year or so of lagging behind, we are now caught up to the present! Huzzah! The editor will continue to strive to keep this cast regular and not so laggy. We apologize for the inconvenience.

DISCLAIMER: This cast was recorded a year ago, before the Sony/Marvel Split, before Spiderman: Far From Home came out, and well before Endgame came out, so there are some.. unfortunate anachronisms. We kept them in because it's a weird time capsule which serves as a stark highlight for recent events.

Hello and welcome! This week we delve into some Marvel Cinematic AU with returning guest Paul Andolina with the 1977 Spiderman Made-for-TV movie!

We also briefly discuss other '70s Marvel Movie attempts and wax about how far we've come and what the future may hold.

This time around we are joined by guest Connor Clay to discuss the final set of films from the Infinity Saga, thus ending an era of the most ambitious serial undertaking put to film. But fear not! For we also have news from San Diego Comic-Con of what is to come, and it looks *glorious*. So come with us as we dive head first into the final films of an 11-year (and counting) undertaking.

Welcome to our episode on Jordan Peele's now horror classic Get Out!

We recorded this episode on April 4, 2018 - a little over a year ago. Albert was originally going to cut out all mentions that date this recording, but a) there are too many mentions and b) it turns out that said mentions aged really, really well. So enjoy!

Note: The Film Room episode backlog has only 2 episodes left before we start delivering you fresh new content! Stay tuned!!

Hello and welcome to a four part episode looking back at what has become a seminal year in modern cinema. 2008 arguably saw a shift in how movies are made and sold as we simultaneously saw trends both emerge and die off. (Goodbye first parts of failed series, hello Cinematic universes!) Come join us as we flip through the highlights (and lowlights) of a decade ago. (Jesus, has it been that long?)

Hello and welcome! This week we take a good hard look at one of our top five favorite bears, Paddington! Specifically the movies. Austin grew up with the bear, Albert did not, so we have both the nostalgic perspective and the outsider perspective when looking at these films (we both loved them). So what makes this extremely british masterpieces of wholesome mischief so great? Let's take a hard stare and find out!

Welcome to a cursed episode! This is one we tried to record for about three months, and then was barely able to get out (recording was interrupted by a telemarketer at one point!), and THEN thanks to a life-disrupting disaster on Albert's side, was in hiatus for another year. But now! Finally! We can release it to you, the masses. This cast is mysterious, much like the cryptid it is about.

The film we are covering this week is The Legend of Boggy Creek! A docudrama about a little Arkansas town plagued by a backwoods monster. This is a fascinating film for its use of the real people that were affected, and being a nice time capsule documenting the waning small town lifestyle.

You can watch the film in full here!

Hello and welcome to The Film Room!

This week, we take a look at a looong overdue entry, Steven Spielberg's Jaws! Considered the first blockbuster (in the modern definition of the word), Spielberg's first real theatrical outing, we look at why it holds up so well, as well as the controversy surrounding how it started America's longtime fear of sharks. So sing along with our rousing rendition of "Show Me the Way to Go Home", and get your chum buckets ready, because it's JAWS!!

Hello and welcome! Since we've officially entered three digits, we're finally releasing our radio pilot! Back in January, we were generously offered a slot on a British online radio station, and have been releasing episodes there both old and new. So this episode is essentially a soft "reboot" of sorts where we go back to our roots and re-establish ourselves for a new audience!

An update on our first episode, we are of course covering The Disaster Artist! We hope you enjoy!

Hello friends, and welcome to EPISODE 100, here at long last!!!

This week we have with us our most frequent guest, Ms. Zephyr! Together we talk one of the best low-key animated films of last year, the kid-centric movie adaptation of the smash hit books, Captain Underpants! Join us for some low-yet-highbrow fun!

You may be asking yourself: "Why did you choose Captain Underpants as your Episode 100? Well, we ask back: Why not? ALSO it was a ton of fun and spoke to our inner 8-year-olds, and don't we need that?

Find Zephyr on her Letterboxd page here!
